Jiko Poa

Jiko Poa is one of Bridge For Change’s latest projects in Kenya. The initiative sits within our wider commitment to practical solutions that strengthen household wellbeing, dignity and resilience.

Why this work matters

Responding to a practical community need.

Households often experience several pressures at the same time — rising living costs, health risks, environmental pressures and limited access to practical solutions that can reduce everyday vulnerability.

Jiko Poa is framed around practical action at household and community level. Bridge For Change works through local engagement, awareness, partnership and community participation so the intervention responds to real priorities rather than assuming one solution fits every household.

Across the project, our emphasis is on participation, practical action, local partnerships and learning. These principles help ensure the work remains relevant to the people it is intended to support.

Project priorities

What the initiative seeks to strengthen.

The project brings together several connected areas of action rather than treating the challenge as a single issue.

01

Household wellbeing

Promoting practical changes that can improve everyday living conditions and reduce vulnerability.

↗
02

Community awareness

Helping people understand the purpose of the intervention and make informed choices.

↗
03

Local participation

Engaging communities in how the project is introduced, adapted and sustained.

↗
04

Affordability & access

Keeping attention on whether the solution is realistic for the households it is intended to support.

↗
05

Local partnerships

Working through community and institutional relationships that can strengthen implementation.

↗
06

Learning & adaptation

Using feedback to understand what communities value, what barriers remain and what should change.

↗
Understanding progress

Looking beyond activities to meaningful change.

We use community feedback and project evidence to understand what is changing, where barriers remain and what the initiative should strengthen next.

01
Adoption & useWhether households are able and willing to use the project’s practical solutions.
02
Household experienceWhether participants report meaningful improvements in daily wellbeing or convenience.
03
Community ownershipWhether local structures understand and support the intervention.
04
SustainabilityWhether the approach can continue, adapt or grow beyond initial project activity.
Community participation

Local knowledge is part of the project.

Bridge For Change works with communities as partners in implementation and learning, not simply as recipients of support.

Dialogue, feedback and local relationships help us understand whether the project is relevant, accessible and responsive to the realities people face. This also strengthens ownership and helps identify what can be sustained over time.
