Ongoing initiative

Restore Her Dignity

Restore Her Dignity is an ongoing initiative aligned with Bridge For Change’s commitment to women and girls, bringing attention to the barriers that can undermine safety, participation, confidence and opportunity.

Why this work matters

Responding to a practical community need.

Women and girls can experience barriers that affect dignity, safety, access to resources and participation in decisions. These challenges are often interconnected and require both individual support and wider community engagement.

The initiative combines awareness, support, community dialogue and pathways to opportunity. It is grounded in respect, confidentiality and the belief that women and girls should be able to shape the support they receive.

Across the project, our emphasis is on participation, practical action, local partnerships and learning. These principles help ensure the work remains relevant to the people it is intended to support.

Project priorities

What the initiative seeks to strengthen.

The project brings together several connected areas of action rather than treating the challenge as a single issue.

01

Dignity & respect

Keeping women’s voice, privacy and agency at the centre of the initiative.

↗
02

Safety & support

Strengthening awareness of available support and safer community environments.

↗
03

Economic opportunity

Connecting empowerment with practical livelihood and skills pathways where relevant.

↗
04

Confidence & voice

Supporting women and girls to participate more fully in decisions affecting them.

↗
05

Community awareness

Engaging communities around harmful barriers, exclusion and inequality.

↗
06

Partnerships

Working with relevant organisations and institutions where specialised support is needed.

↗
Understanding progress

Looking beyond activities to meaningful change.

We use community feedback and project evidence to understand what is changing, where barriers remain and what the initiative should strengthen next.

01
AgencyWhether women and girls feel more able to make choices and seek support.
02
Access to opportunityWhether participants connect to relevant skills, livelihoods or services.
03
Community supportWhether local attitudes and support structures become more enabling.
04
Safety & dignityWhether participants experience stronger respect, confidence and support.
Community participation

Local knowledge is part of the project.

Bridge For Change works with communities as partners in implementation and learning, not simply as recipients of support.

Dialogue, feedback and local relationships help us understand whether the project is relevant, accessible and responsive to the realities people face. This also strengthens ownership and helps identify what can be sustained over time.
